The World Federation President’s June 2012 visit to the NASIMCO region

Dr. Asghar Moledina attended the 32nd NASIMCO annual conference in Miami Florida on 9 June 2012.  As he was planning on being in the region, Dr. Moledina took the opportunity to visit various Jamaats in North America.

On 2 June, Dr. Moledina visited New York and had the opportunity to address the SIJNY Jamaat on the Wiladat of Imam Ali (as). 

In Miami, Florida Dr. Moledina addressed the attendees at the NASMICO conference.  In his delivery, he expressed his endorsement for the theme of the NASIMCO Conference spoke about the Madrasah Center of Excellence, which has taken on a formal structure since its inception and is working towards making its objectives a reality. He also briefed the attendees on the details of The World Federation Foundation Fund.  He was joined by Br Sadique Jaffer who also emphasised the importance of the Foundation Fund and its benefits.

On Thursday 14 June, the President visited the Husseini Islamic Center of Orlando.  After the Thursday night majlis, Dr Moledina addressed the HIC Orlando Community and spoke on the new MCE project that that WF has undertaken to enhance our Madressahs worldwide.  Dr. Moledina stressed on the wajibat of paying Khums and Zakaat, and urged the community to do their part.  He also congratulated the Orlando Community on their foresightedness in purchasing properties with a view to generate income for the maintenance of their new center. He was given a tour of the construction site and wished the project well. 

Dr Moledina also visited the Imam Ali Seminary managed by Maulana Mohamed Baig, who is the resident Aalim of HIC Orlando.  Imam Ali Seminary is the only existing Hawza in the US with 8 students currently, of which 4 will be graduating and moving on to further studies in Qum.  The Hawza will also be taking women applicants this year.
Finally, The President of The World Federation sat with the HIC Managing Committee and discussed communal and other issues.  He pledged his assistance to the Managing Committee and shared his sentiments as well.


 
From Florida, Dr. Moledina flew to Toronto where on Monday 18 June; he visited the As Sadiq School.  He met with officials of the As Sadiq School and also visited classrooms and was able to observe the children during their day.  

 
    
  
Dr. Moledina also had the pleasure of visiting the Mulla Asghar Memorial Library and Resource Centre.  He toured the facility and got the opportunity to see the exhibits.  He was very pleased to see how advanced and beautiful the facility is.

     
 
  
In the evening, Dr. Moledina addressed the Toronto Jamaat on the eve of Me’raj.  In his address, he spoke in detail on the Madrasah Center of Excellence and The World Federation Foundation Fund. 

On Wednesday 20 June, he visited the Bathurst Madressa event where the teachers and volunteers were recognized for their contribution towards the centre. 

Dr. Moledina also attended the Graduation ceremony of CASA and the Grade 8 students from As Sadiq School on Friday 22 June. 

Following the graduation, the President attended the Crescent Village Baraza Group at Crescent Village.  He was accompanied by dignitaries from AFED, NASIMCO, and ISIJ.  The highlight of this visit was the groups pledge towards one housing unit for the needy in Dar es Salaam.  They also made the pledge to accommodate 10 students to study in Universities or Colleges in Toronto.  Such pledges are highly commendable and extremely appreciated.


 
Reflecting on his visit to North America, Dr. Asghar Moledina said, “I was very pleased to visit some of the Jamaats in our NASIMCO region and was thrilled to see the progress the communities are making within their respective Jamaats.  From their centres, to their madressahs to the Islamic schools, it is easy to see the time and efforts that individuals are putting in to see their communities prosper and grow.  The Mulla Asghar Memorial Library and Resource Centre is a testament to the dedication of Marhum Mulla Asghar and InshAllah the Jamaats within North America will continue to succeed in their efforts.”
