A Tribute to Marhum Salim bhai Rajabali Dosani by Dr Asgarali Moledina, President of The World Federation of KSIMC

Updated 27 March 2013

Salim bhai Rajabali Dosani popularly known as Chotubhai was a dedicated social worker. He was held in very high esteem by our Marjae Ayatullah al-Uzma Sayyid Ali al-Husaini Seestani Dama-Dhilluhu.

He dedicated his life to help the needy, destitute and the poor and often people would line up at his office to meet him to share their predicaments and he would then try assisting them as best as possible.  He would regularly visit the sick in the hospitals and would frequently avail his home to those from outside Ahmedabad who came for medical treatments and then required extended stay to recuperate.  In addition, his silent contributions to the housing, economic upliftment, health and education will be greatly missed.

He came from a family of philanthropists and his late father, Rajabali bhai Dosani was one of the founding father of The Council of Gujarat. Marhum Mulla Sahib always used to stay with them while visiting Ahmedabad.

Marhum Chotubhai was an anchor of cooperation in all the work The World Federation and The Africa Federation did in Gujarat & Kutch. He availed his time and warm hospitality whenever the Office Bearers or departmental teams of The World Federation visited Gujarat and Kutch. During my recent visits to Kutch & Gujarat he drove me hundreds of kilometres and never complained of tiredness.

His silent philanthropy was commendable as he practiced the adage the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. Above all he practiced on what the Prophet (saww) had said “Being amicable towards people is half of faith and being gentle and kind to them is half of life.” (al-Kafi, v.2.p.117, no.5)

The Khoja Shia community and humanity at large have lost a dedicated servant of Allah (swt).  We send heartfelt condolences to his widow, Tahera bai, his three daughters and son-in-laws and to his 3 dedicated brothers, Mohsin bhai, Nasir bhai & Sajjad bhai who continue to serve the poor and needy in keeping up with the tradition of philanthropy of the Rajabali bhai Dosani family. Marhum left this temporary world for his permanent abode at a young age of 55 yrs but has left an impressive legacy in the service if humanity.

May Allah (swt) in his infinite mercy place the soul of Marhum Salim bhai among the proximity of our Pure Fourteen infallible Masumeen (a.s.) whom he so dearly loved and followed and may He in His infinite mercy give the family Sabre Jameel to bear their loss. Ameen.
