On Sunday 11th September, The World Federation Office Bearers had the privilege of meeting Sayed Jawad Shahrastani, the official envoy and representative of our Grand Maraje, Grand Ayatollah al-Uzma Seyyid Ali Al-Sistani (May Allah swt protect and grant him long life). The meeting took place in London.
The World Federation was represented by Munawer Rattansey (Vice President), Shan-E-Abbas Hassam (Secretary General), Reza Hooda (Hon. Treasurer) and Sajjad Tejani (Deputy Hon. Treasurer). In addition, Ahmed Daya (former Hon Treasurer) and Al Haj Mustafa Jaffer were present.
The meeting lasted approximately 90 minutes and several topics were discussed. Sayed continually praised the work undertaken throughout its existence by The World Federation and highlighted that our Marja was proud of the work done by The World Federation. Sayed highlighted the importance of spreading the Madhab of the Ahlul Bayt (AS) in a positive, constructive manner. He also highlighted the importance of the use of media and the internet especially given the mass audience involved.
The Secretary General briefed Sayed on the activities conducted so far in this term and some of those included in the draft action plan 2011-2014. These include the ambitions on increasing external Tableegh plans (including in many new countries), the work done for disaster relief and the Madresah Action Plan which was signed off by the Extraordinary Conference of May 2011. Certain other geo-political issues were also discussed in detail.
The Vice President, Munawer Rattansey said: “It was a privilege and honour to meet Sayed Jawad Shahrastani again. It was good to see his insight into the issues that are currently affecting our community. We pray for his long life and the long, healthy life of Grand Ayatollah al-Uzma Seyyid Ali Al-Sistani”.
