On 2 May, 2010, The World Federation of KSIMC is hosting a special presentation on NGO development and fundraising for the benefit of our community organisations. The Seminar will be held after the Third Executive Council Meeting in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This event forms as part of The World Federation’s NGO agenda to address the development needs of NGOs and Civil Society Organisations within our community structures that provide services for the reduction of global poverty.  The event details are as follows:

Date:               Sunday 2 May, 2010
Time:              8:00 pm
Location:         Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Venue:            Auditorium, Dar es Salaam Jamaat

The Seminar will provide an overview of The World Federation’s NGO Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, its outcomes and achievements, and its work plan 2009-2011. Other areas of discussion  will include the need and importance for appropriate governance structures, monitoring and evaluation, and adequate financial policies within all organisations.

A key presentation will be given by the Executive Director of the Foundation for Civil Society in Tanzania, John Ulanga. The Foundation is a Tanzanian non-profit organisation governed by an independent Board, providing the support mechanisms to ensure multi-sector efforts to fight poverty. The Foundation builds the capacity of civil society organizations in Tanzania by providing them with grants, facilitating links among each other and other sectors, and enabling a culture of ongoing learning within the sector. The Foundation's thematic areas include policy engagement, governance and accountability, and civil-society capacity-strengthening.

Mr. Ulanga is also the chairman of the East African Association of Grantmakers, a collection of grantmakers and philanthropic institutions.  He has great experience working with the public sector through his intensive involvement in public service reform and is a member of an independent advisory panel for the World Bank Tanzania office. Mr Ulanga will present some of the most important aspects of fundraising including grant funding application processes, failures and successes, and grant funding opportunities for East African civil society organisations.

Among those invited to attend this Seminar are representatives of The World Federation and Regional Federations Councillors and Delegates, and local NGOs and civil society organisations such as Bilal Muslim Missions.
