CHB Welcomes Secretary General to Dar Es Salaam

Updated 28 October 2008

Recently, the Secretary General of The World Federation, Br. Yasin Rahim paid a three days visit to Dar es Salaam. A series of meetings were lined up, including one with the Central Health Board (CHB) of The Africa Federation, followed by a brief visit to Ebrahim Haji Charitable Health Centre.

The World Federation has made important contributions towards health (especially in preventative healthcare). Encouraging results are emerging in our community, particularly in health education & awareness.

In his meeting on 11th October 2008 with the CHB Chairman and Board Members, Br. Yasin underscored the importance of capacity building in human resources especially in Public Health Administration (PHA). There is a need for qualified people to take up PHA positions in almost all the Jamaats in Africa.

Br. Yasin was shown the new Pharmacy and Reception wing at the Ebrahim Haji Health Centre which was funded through the generous donation from the late Juma Haji family of Karachi. He complimented citation and photograph of late Ebrahim Haji which was displayed on the wall at the ground floor of the building.

He also visited the laboratory and was shown the newly acquired equipment. Ms. Ekta, Head of Laboratory gave a brief description of the equipment and their functions. The Laboratory will soon undergo complete refurbishment and upgrading.

The Central Health Board (CHB) of the Federation of KSI Jamaats of Africa is working closely with The World Federation in several areas of health. One of these initiatives includes a plan to establish an Eye Clinic in Dar es Salaam to be equipped with latest ophthalmology equipment. At present, the community is lacking a good eye clinic. If one is established, it will be of great help to the people there.
