The World Federation’s work in the provision of Healthcare

Updated 5 October 2011

The World Federation’s health objective is to alleviate the sufferings of those who live in poverty and destitution by providing them with primary healthcare and specialist treatments. A goal that is synonymous with the UN’s Millennium Development goals.

The World Federation has been working to achieve its health objective since 1975. After a visit to India, Mulla Asghar, the President of the organisation at the time, realised the demand for healthcare. On his travels to remote villages and over-populated slums on the edges of thriving cities, he saw a need to provide healthcare for the lowest income households residing in these areas. The healthcare Objective of The World Federation is to provide health services to people in dire need of medical assistance or ophthalmological care. In order to achieve this, we provide funding for various types of facilities that dispense healthcare services, including Primary Health Care Centres, Eye Clinics and Eye Hospitals, Medical Camps & Eye Camps, Autistic Centre based in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania and training of Social Workers in Patna, Bihar.

All our centres that provide eye care are branded Aeinullah, which simply means Eye of God - and our medical centres are branded Zainabiya.

Currently our Primary Healthcare Centres are based in Patna (Capital of Bihar), Bangalore (Capital of Karnataka), Lucknow and Pottenahali (village in Karnataka). We also fund a referral centre in Lucknow to treat those patients who could not be treated by a GP as their illness may be severe or require specialist care.

Ophthalmological Services are based in Patna, Lucknow, Bangalore and Mianwali (Pakistan) where we fund eye clinics. In Bangalore and Mianwali, we fund hospitals as well, furnished to the highest standards of care, including surgical theatres. All centres treat eye ailments; provide vision correction and surgeries for cataract and glaucoma.

Medical and eye camps are held by the specialists from our centres who volunteer their time to visit villages to provide necessary eye checks and medical check ups free of charge. We provide these camps because the villages are remote and the people who live there have little or no access to medical care. They cannot afford to travel to our centres and in many cases don’t even know if treatments for their illnesses exist.

These projects cannot run successfully without your support. If you wish to donate towards any of the health projects, please click here. You may also write to health@world-federation.org for any further enquiries.
