Updated 19 October 2011

The Al-Mahdi Hospital was established on 12 June 1997 and initially started by providing general out patients’ service. Since then the hospital has improved a great deal and is now a 20 bed hospital. It operates round the clock and all kinds of medical emergencies are taken care of.

Al-Mahdi hospital has expanded further and is now providing Neurosurgery.  To be able to provide the best care to the patients of the community, Al-Mahdi Hospital were in need of a Mechanical Ventilator.  The World Federation donated the Mechanical Ventilator which will not only save lives but will also be of great use during surgeries and in ITU where patients needs assisted breathing

A Mechanical Ventilator can be defined as a machine designed to mechanically move breathable air into and out of the lungs, to provide the mechanism of breathing for a patient who is physically unable to breathe, or breathing insufficiently.

This Machine has dual function, it may be used as ICU Mechanical Ventilator & also attach with Anaesthesia Machine for all kind of major surgeries.

Mianwali is the capital city of Mianwali District in the north-west of Punjab province in Pakistan. It is connected by road and rail with Multan and Rawalpindi. Like other small cities in Pakistan, its main struggles include poverty, unemployment, inadequate facilities for quality education and insufficient health coverage.

Mianwali is populated by 85,000 people and is rife with poverty, unemployment and illiteracy, over 60% of people have access to a government primary healthcare facility and over 38% have access to a private facility. However a large number of patients are not able to get quality health care. Al-Mahdi Hospital is able to fill the gap between the Government Hospital which lacks resources and the private hospital which the majority of patients are not able to afford

The cost of the mechanical ventilator was borne by Beta Charitable Trust and The World Federation would like to thank Beta Charitable Trust for always supporting its health projects and enabling us to provide quality health care service to the most needy who would otherwise suffer from lack of adequate health care

Dr Munir M Datoo the Assistant Secretary General- Health of The Word Federation stated ‘ I am very proud to be able to facilitate the purchase of The Mechanical Ventilator which undoubtedly will be able to save many a lives in the years to come.’
