Autistic Daycare Centre trip to Water Park – Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Updated 10 August 2009

The World Federation Autistic Daycare Centre organised a field trip to Wet N Wild Water Park at Kunduchi, Dar-es-Salaam on Monday 8 June 2009 for the children. The visit was a great outing for the children who thoroughly enjoyed the visit. The Autistic Centre was officially opened in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania on February 2006. The centre provides structured support for children with autism and other disabling and chronic conditions.

The visit to Wet N Wild created great excitement amongst the children. An overview of the visit is provided here:

The bus departed from the Centre at 10:30 am with 18 children, 9 teachers and support staff. The climate was warm but drizzly. However, this did not affect the children’s excitement, who were very eager to board the bus. By 11.00 am the bus had found its way to the front gates of Wet N Wild. After undergoing necessary formalities, the children accompanied by teachers proceeded to enter the park. The entrance fees and meals for all children and staff were sponsored by the management of Wet N Wild.

After changing, the children accompanied by staff got into the water. Some of them played in slides and yet others played in the pools. At 1:00 pm all the children left the pool and got changed with the help of staff. They were then led to the dinning hall for a scrumptious lunch.

As all good things come to an end, it was time to return to the school. The teachers had prepared a Thank-you card for the management for their generosity and excellent hospitality. The card contained photographs of all children and staff. The Centre Administrator presented the card to the Wet N While Manager, who was appreciative of the gesture.

The bus left Wet N wild at around 2:45 pm. All the exciting activities had exhausted the children and some of them fell asleep in the bus. The bus arrived at the Centre at around 3.30 pm and was received by eagerly awaiting parents.
