During his Ziyarat trip to Sham, Br. Mohamed Dawood, the Secretary General of COEJ visited IIPS in early March. He spent considerable time discussing pertinent matters in regard to the MTP finalist students with Dr. Mahmood Abdulla, the Dean of IIPS. He appreciated the research library and IT facilities available to the MTP students. At the end of his visit, Br. Dawood said: "Seeing this place for yourself and hearing about it are two different things". He was also informed of the implementation of the curriculum.
Dr. Abdulla said: "Insha'Allah, during April and May, we shall be covering twenty Skills Seminars, which are an integral part of MTP".
By the end of June, the students will sit their final examinations in the Hawzawi subjects and this would bring to an end the Eastern modules.
Dr. Abdulla gave the latest update on the Enrichment modules.
Shaykh Mohamed Khalfan will teach two modules: 'Preaching, Teaching, Reaching' and 'Religion and Women'. Mulla Maqbul Rahim will teach two moduels: 'Comparative Religions' and 'Classical Islam'.
Shaykh Hamza Sodagar will teach 'Understanding the Media and analyzing Current Affairs'. Sister Amina Inloes will teach 'Youth Issues'.
Sister Rebecca Masterton will teach three modules: 'Islam and the West', 'Islamic Cultural Heritage' and 'Islamic Mysticism'. Shaykh Tahir Ridha Jaffer will teach three modules: 'Islamic Fundmentalism', 'Just War' and 'Survey of Shia Thought'.
All these lectures will be given through Skype on the internet before the end of this final academic year.
