Hajj & Ziyarat Online seminars and other short Courses from A.L.I.

The Academy for Learning Islam (A.L.I.) is pleased to announce the following online courses for the months of October and November 2010. 

Please note that these are interactive online courses which require a computer with speakers/headphones and preferably both a microphone and a high-speed internet (Cable/DSL or faster) connection to participate. It is actually quite simple to log on and technical help will be available for those who need it.

ALI 176: Webinar on Ziyaarat to Iraq
This 100 minutes webinar (Online Seminar) will focus on preparing for Ziyaarat to Iraq around Day of ‘Arafaat. We plan to cover aadaab (Etiquette) of traveling, specific manners of visiting the holy places, significance of some of the holy sites in Iraq, and tips on getting maximum spiritual benefits from doing the ziyaarah of Imams, their companions and other shuhadaa in Iraq. Timings also includes question/answer time.

ALI 177: Hajj 1431 Preparation and Rituals
This 100 minute Hajj online seminar (webinar)  will be of interest to all those proceeding to Hajj (for the first time or repeat) and Madrasah teachers who wish to be informed about the significance Hajj, and its spiritual and social benefits of this important branch of Islam.   Time permitting, we will also have a brief discussion on Arkaan (wajibaat) of Hajj. Timings also includes question/answer time.

ALI 178: Raising Children with TLC (Time, Limits and Caring)
This 4 week online parenting program will cover positive and practical ways to raise your children. It is particularly suited to mothers of children aged 3years to 12 years. We will cover the basics of positive parenting, including understanding your child’s behaviour, ways to encourage positive behaviour and discourage uncooperative behaviour, developing positive relationships with your children including communicating so that children talk to you and listen to what you have to say. We will also talk about family survival tips including what you can do to foster parenting cooperation from your spouse and looking after yourself as a mother to reduce stress and manage your own emotions.

ALI 179: Taking Advice from Nahjul Balagha
Each session of this four week course will focus on one Khutba of Nahjul Balagha. The khutbas will be read and discussed, with specific emphasis on certain excerpts from the Khutba. Each class will also include relevant verses of the Holy Quran and hadith. Khutbas to be included are Khutbas nos. 101, 106, 109, and 112.   .
