The Hyderi Girls Workshop took place on Wednesday, June 1st, 2011. There was a fantastic attendance of 30 girls from various jamaats in both south and north London. The day was filled with activities targeted at the enhancement and development of the 8-15 year age group.
The workshop began with ice-breakers and team building games which hopefully led to the beginnings of some new friendships! This was followed by an introduction to the world of gardening, with particular emphasis on growing and using herbs for cooking. It was great fun as the girls planted seedlings in personal pots, and those with green thumbs will be evident in a few weeks time as their plants flourish.
In tribute to the birth of Great Lady Fatima (a.s), the girls painted ceramic tiles, which were baked and made into fridge magnets, as a mother’s day gift for their mums. The artistic talent continued with the jewellery making segment of the day. Intricate bracelets were fashioned with various beads and lot of patience. Some truly beautiful pieces were made. The most satisfying part of this was the supportive and encouraging comments the girls gave each other, as they worked on this new project.
We were fortunate to have two experienced teachers to guide the girls in Islamic activities. The group was taken through the practical demonstration of Namaz e Wahshat, as well as the reasoning and benefits of this namaaz. And, in remembrance of all the Muslims worldwide undergoing any difficulty, the girls recited the Amaal e Ashura.
A nourishing and replenishing lunch of homemade Italian food was enjoyed by all. A treat of pancakes with various yummy topping of their choosing, ended the busy day in a tasty way.

This day would not have been possible without the help of the volunteers and the support of the parents. The Workshop Team recognises and appreciates the hard work and efforts put in by all.
Our utmost gratitude is to Allah (s.w.t) for the means and resources by which to carry out such activities. And with His blessings, may it continue.
Jazakallah.
