During Ramadhan 1430, The World Federation worked in partnership with the Az Zahra Association of Sri Lanka to provide respite to the needy. The following is a continuation of the report submitted by the agency outlining the work carried out:
The President of the Az Zahra Association, Sr. Zaveeni Jallil began the report by saying: “The Az Zahra Association of Sri Lanka, wishes to convey our warm, sincere and whole-hearted thanks first and foremost to Almighty Allah (SWT) for making it possible for us to receive this generous Ramadhan Relief, which in turn helped us to assist the poor and needy Muslims in Sri Lanka, especially our Shia Brethren to enjoy a plentiful Ramadhan. Our special thanks to each and everyone at The World Federation and their families and all donors and their families for their unstinted and continued support during the Blessed and Holy month of Ramadhan. This generous gesture made it possible for us to distribute generous provision packs, organize Iftaars and also assist the Rozedars in numerous ways.”
- Bountiful provision packs were distributed among approximately 200 families, to enable them to fast during the month of Ramadhan. Cash was also distributed among some families to enable them to purchase whatever they needed.
- Aid was distributed in the following towns: Wattala, Mabole, Ragama, Akbar Town, Wanawasala, Hunupitiya, Peralanda, Giriulla, Kurunegala, Seeduwa, Negombo, Chilaw, Kalpitiya, Puttalam, Beruwala and Maradana.
- Each Ramadhan, many families are given assistance to re-build their homes that were damaged due to floods. The walls of most of these houses are built out of wooden planks, therefore, when the wood perishes, they have to be replaced. On a continuous basis (not only during Ramadhan), assistance is provided to fix up most of these houses, where debris and earth are added in and around the homes so that the rain and flood waters would not make their way inside the homes.
- Special programmes were conducted to commemorate memorable events such as the Wiladat of Imam Hassan (AS), Wafat of Bibi Khadija (AS) and the Wafat of Imam Ali (AS).
- Many programmes were conducted during this holy month and each programme consisted of recitation of Dua Iftitah, lecture, namaaz, and concluded with Iftaar.

DISTRIBUTION OF RAMADHAN PACKS
The Ramadhan packs were distributed among the poor and needy Muslims living in Chilaw, Kalpitiya and Puttalam areas, from Chilaw.
After the distribution was made, a talk on the Blessings of the Holy Month of Ramadhan and about our Holy Prophet Muhammad (S) was delivered by Brother Haris Jalill.
