The World Federation would like to welcome Masum Gulamhusein to his new role as the Assistant Secretary General for Zainabiyya Child Sponsorship Scheme (ZCSS) for the term 2009 – 2012.
Masum Gulamhusein was born in Mombasa. He began his studies in Pakistan and then came to the UK for Accountancy studies. On completion he returned to Mombasa for a short period of time and came to the UK to settle in the mid 1990's. Currently he is in the Nursing home business and has a family with two daughters and two sons.
Masum is also an active member of the community. He is a madressa teacher and has been actively working with other charities and organisations around the world, involved in fundraising and in management and delivery of various projects.
Masum has been a supporter and volunteer of the ZCSS since 2000 and proceeded to actively join the ZCSS team in February 2006. Since then he has travelled to India several times and has been instrumental in the effective running of the scheme. His negotiations skills have benefitted the scheme and the team extensively.
He was the assistant head in the last term 2006-09 and wants to take ZCSS to another level where quality and Higher Education respectively will be given a top priority for students. Effective reporting to sponsor parents is also one of the priorities set by him.
Masum said, ‘I have enjoyed working with the ZCSS over the last few years and look forward to my new role. Inshallah, with the blessings of the Almighty and the support of our members, we will be able to take the success of the ZCSS to a new level, providing children with top quality higher education to allow them to become successful in their futures and become independent and confident individuals.’
Sajjad Tejani, the former ASG of ZCSS said, ‘Masum has been an integral part of the ZCSS team. His contributions have made a tremendous impact on the development of the scheme. I am confident that his experience, dedication and determination will take ZCSS to the next level. May Allah give Masum and his team the tawfeeq to continue assisting the students of ZCSS. Ameen’
