Celebrating the Wiladat of Bibi Fatima (as)

Bibi Fatima (sa) was born in Mecca on 20th Jamaadi al Thaani, the blessed offspring of Prophet Muhammad (saw) and Bibi Khadijah (sa).  The Holy Prophet (saw) eagerly awaited the arrival of his daughter, as he had the knowledge that she would hold a very high position both in this world and the Hereafter, and that she would be the leader of the women of the worlds (Sayyidatu Nisa il-Alameen).

Her birth
When the Prophet (saw) was informed that Bibi Khadijah had given birth to Bibi Fatima (sa), he quickly rushed home and took his newborn daughter, kissed her and began to recite the zikr of Allah. Hence, the first voice Bibi Fatima (sa) heard was the voice of her father, the Messenger of Allah, and the first words she heard were ‘Allah is great’ and ‘There is no god but Allah’. Angel Jibrail  greeted the Prophet, conveying the greetings of Allah the Almighty to him and to his blessed newborn child.

Historians say that Fatima (sa) had been created from the fruits of the Paradise: On the night of the Prophet’s ascension to the Heavens (Mi’raj), Allah had fed Prophet Muhammad (saw) with the fruits of Heaven, and Fatima (sa) originated from those fruits.

Her characteristics
Bibi Fatima (as) was very modest and humble. She did not like the world for its worldly belongings; rather, she used the world  to perform good deeds and further worship Allah (SWT).  She fed the hungry, and clothed and supported the needy. She deeply understood this worldly life, and realised the significance of the Hereafter.

Her titles
Bibi Fatima (as) was given many titles which reflected the high qualities that she had:

As-Siddeeqah - the utterly truthful.

Al-Mubarakah - the blessed. Allah had blessed her and her progeny.

At-Tahirah - the pure.

Az-Zakiyyah - the chaste, innocent.

Ar-Radhiyah - the pleased. She was pleased and satisfied with an extremely simple life.

Al-Muhaddathah – the one conversed with; it is well-known through hadith narrations that the angels frequented her house and spoke with her.

Al-Batool – the ritually pure.

Az-Zahra – the radiant. This was her most famous title, and was given to her because her great faith and high morals made her spiritually radiant, and are shining examples for all times to come.

We offer our Mubaraki and congratulations to the Imam of Our Time (aj) and to all Mu’mineen on this joyous occasion. May Allah bless us through the wasila of Bibi Fatima (sa), and inspire us through her example.
