On 13 June 2012, a total of 17 blasts were set off across several cities in Iraq - including Baghdad and six other towns. 66 people died and more than 200 people were injured.
The explosions occurred at the same time as when hundreds of thousands of pilgrims were making their way to the capital city of Iraq to commemorate the death anniversary of the 7th Imam, Imam Musa Kazim (as).
This set of blasts was the third that was set off this week.
Following the blast on Wednesday, two car bombs in capital killed at least 26 people Saturday 16 June 2012, raising the week’s death toll to more than 100.
The World Federation condemns this and other similar acts of violence and was deeply saddened to receive this news. We pray for the quick and full recovery of all those who were injured. We extend our condolences to the families of the victims. We also pray to the Almighty through the waseela of the Ahlul Bayt (as) for an end to these senseless and violent attacks.
