The World Federation has launched a new version of its website. The new responsive site is in beta testing phase and introduces major changes to the layout, fonts, spacing, iconography and colour schemes. An interview with Shan E Abbas Hassam – Secretary General of The World Federation
Shan E Abbas Hassam, the Secretary General of The World Federation sat with interviewer, Sakina Datoo, and talked about his role as the Secretary General over the last 3 years. He discussed the various projects he has been involved in, including the Madressa Centre of Excellence (MCE). Another achievement he touched on was the realignment of The World Federation and its relationship with the Regional Federations. Shan-E-Abbas also talks about the importance of youth and their involvement in the community.

An interview with Reza Hooda – Honorary Treasurer of The World Federation
In his interview, Reza talks about how the organisation obtains funding for their work, the concept of The World Federation Foundation Fund and legacy giving, both of which will increase sustainability of The World Federation on a long term basis. He also stresses the importance of youth involvement and the improvements that The World Federation has made in terms of its processes and data analysis, allowing for better reporting and strategy development.

Syrian Refugee Appeal: The World Federation prepares to deliver 1,000 food baskets and non-food items in Turkey
In February 2014, UNHCR (the UN refugee agency) reported that more than 20,000 Syrian refugees arrived in Turkey since the start of the year. This represents the largest influx since early 2013. Since then, about 500 people have been arriving daily seeking refuge from the fighting taking place in Northern Syria. The SYRIAN REFUGEE APPEAL aims to provide humanitarian aid to refugee families in the wake of the civil war. Through consultation with local partners and volunteers in both Lebanon and Turkey, The World Federation has learned that the most pressing areas of need among these refugee families include food and nutrition, and essential non-food items.

AFED delegation visits Madagascar, Reunion and Mauritius Islands – Part 3
The main purpose of the visit was to establish closer acquaintances with the community members in Mauritius, and a visit to the Mosque, Madressah and Kabrastan. Mauritius Jamaat which is in Port Louis has a Musafirkhana within the Mosque complex, expansion work has been undertaken by the Jamaat.

New Issue of Federation Samachar Available – May 2014
The May 2014 issue of the Federation Samachar, the magazine of the Federation of KSI Jamaats of Africa was released in Dar es Salaam on 2nd May, 2014. Copies will be available to Jamaats in Africa, Europe, India, Australia and North America from this week. Jamaats outside Africa will receive copies within two weeks!

The Secretary General of The World Federation of KSIMC, Shan E Abbas Hassam, shared his thoughts on the upcoming Triennial Conference. This will be held on Friday 16th to Sunday 18th May 2014 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The World Federation conference is held every three years and allows the current team to report back on the work achieved during the term. The conference is attended by individuals from all over the world and this year, over 100 delegates and invitees are expected to attend. more...
